OwO;; My first time drawing a human on the computer. There was no strategy whatsoever here. I really have to develop a strategy to draw these things... That must be the reason these pictures always take so long. Ehhhh... I REALLY overused the burn and dodge tools here. xP
Anyhow, 'tis my half of an art trade with candylover10123 on Neopets. (I promised to draw her Omi in anthro/human.) Auuuugh! The legs look weird! I didn't notice until I was finished, but teh lower legs happen to be WAY longer than the upper legs. (They're supposed to be about the same length to be correct, anatomical-wise. I think.) Gahh... I'm bad at drawing humans. ;_; I messed up that one knee, the mini-skirt, the eyes, AND the hand. Eheheheh... I can't draw hands, so... I just didn't try. *lazy again* Plus, I still haven't gotten used to using Photoshop Elements yet. (My best art program so far. =_=; *too lazy to read tutorials*
Lineart done in MsPaint. Colored in Photoshop Elements.

This is WAAAAY better then my first human on the computer!! o.o This is really awesome! DD
Before I used Elements too, I got very used with it o.o!! What program didjoo used before?
The leg looks fine to me, you didn't drew the ground so her leg in the ground might be moving close to us or something like that xDD;;
Here some suggestions by the look of things
After you got your lineart, I bet the whites weren't transparent right? Click the eraser tool, then click "Magic eraser tool" Click on the whites of that layer that aren't transparent (it will make them transparent)
Try making a layer underneath (some people used above) the lineart layer. Try coloring there and make a new layer for each new color. (Erase the bits if some of the color comes out of the line) People mostly use a soft brush or an airbrush for this. But I usually use the regular brush ;
For coloring, I reccomend you using different colors instead of the burn and dodge tools too much xD (but you can still use them!!)
To make coloring an easier job, look at these screenshots I made-->[link] and here tells you how to lock the layers-->[link]
Geez you won't be reading this xDD;; Sorry it was extreamly long o.o;;;;;;;; Hope you understand xDD;;;
The background is purty! *o*
*gag* *choke* Jewel, you're only 12?!?!?! holy crap judging by your art I thought you were 16 or something!!! *chokes on surprisyness*
BTW, can we do an art trade?

Ahhh, yes. I turn 13 in December. O________o;;; 16!!!??? *dies* My art is SO not 16-ish. x_X;; (Hehe, that happens to be the age I filled in on Neo. Or was it 17...? xP)
And of course we can do an art trade! n__________________n;
Nyeh... >.> I just used my scanner art program before. O_o I've looked at some photoshop and PSP tutorials but I couldn't find one for Elements. :is too lazy anyway:
Sankuu muchly for the help! I wasn't really sure what it meant with locking layers, since nothing changed about the picture. Actually, I usually only use burn and dodge when I'm in a hurry (which explains why I use them so often. xD), at other times, I cell-shade, or use the smudge tool to shade.
Aieeeeeh! Thanks again! By the way, I always used elements for my backgrounds and special effects, so at least I know how to do that much. xD
yes! tehe... so you were born in 1992 too? ^w^ yay... so... just note me on what you want me to draw... and we can keep going at that.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The 25 semi-finalists for our "Darksiders: Your Last Days" contest have been selected! The ultimate winners will be chosen by Joe Madureira, aka "Joe Mad" of Vigil Games. Check out the awesome semi-finalists to see who made the cut!

Locking layers is like locking transperancy, (means you cannot color where the tranceparency are) x3 *is bad at explaining things xD*
I understand xD When I color, I don't use anything else. I just color and go blaaaah and leave it there xDD
Ok x3
I use Elements for bgs and stoof cuz I uploaded most of my brushes in there xD;
